Another important footbal team disbanded in Romania

Dunarea Galati went on the way as Unirea Urziceni, Universitatea Craiova and Arges and disbanded at the level of first team. This has been said to the players by club president Romeo Jianu, who said that footballers are forced to look for other teams.

Club from Galati was born in 1970 and over time has had various names: FCM Galati, Dunarea Galati CSU, Gloria CFR Galati, Galati and the Dunarea Galati Constant CFR.

Best performance in club history is the qualification in the Romanian Cup final in 1976, losing 1-0 to Steaua. Immediately following year Galatians represented Romania in the Cup Winners Cup where they were eliminated by Portuguese team Boavista.
