Hezbollah has revealed the circumstances in which the military leader of the group was killed

Hezbollah announced Friday his death and Badreddine the same day the funeral took place in the feud group in southern Beirut.

"Investigations showed that the explosion, which targeted one of our bases near the international airport of Damascus and led to the martyrdom of commander Mustafa Badreddine, was the result of artillery bombardment carried out by takfiri groups in the area," said Hezbollah into a statement.

"Takfiri" is a word used to designate Hezbollah Sunni Islamist armed groups radical, Reuters notes. Hezbollah fighting in Syria against the rebels and jihadists troops of the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
