geto dacian coin Alexander the great
Paul Croitoru from Suceava found with a metal detector a true historical treasure. One common area of Cacica (Suceava county) gave over 309 Geto-Dacian coins  over 2,300 years old. According to expert's on the black market, this treasure would be worth around 150,000 euros. But Paul Croitoru decided to surrender the treasure to Culture Directorate Suceava.

"Every coin is raw silver as silver is not very good quality. Some of the coins have on one side the faces and personalities of the time on the other side of a horse or various other symbols, "said Viorel Blănaru adviser at the Department for Culture Suceava.

Thesaurus, which is silver and weighs about 1.5 kilograms, is the largest of its kind ever discovered in Romania. According to Dr. Victoria Batariuc in medieval history, Dacian coins are imitations after the Macedonian kings issued by Philip II and Alexander the Great.
