 An opposition journalist in Turkey was about to be assassinated in court



















Editor of an opposition newspaper in Turkey, journalist Can Dundar, escaped from an armed attack in court in Istanbul where he is on trial for "revealing state secrets".

A man fired several shots with a pistol, injuring a reporter, before submitting weapon in front of the cameras and to surrender to police.

The gunman tried to shoot the Can Dundar in court in Istanbul just before the verdict in his trial is on trial for revealing state secrets to be announced Tuesday.


The assailant shouted "traitor" before the shot at least three shots in his direction Dundar, who was not hurt in the attack. His wife rushed to defend him.

Can Dundar, editor of the daily Cumhuriyet, and Erdem Gul bureau chief of this publication, Ankara, risking life imprisonment in a trial who are accused of espionage, disclosure of state secrets and attempted coup that aired in 2014 an article about the video showing arms deliveries operated by Turkish security services by Islamist rebels in Syria.
